Frenkie de Jong: Pundit shares ‘exciting’ Man United claim after source’s update
The potential rekindling of Frenkie de Jong and Donny van de Beek’s midfielder partnership should make Man United fans excited.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s latest transfer business.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (27 June) that Man United are in advanced talks to sign De Jong for £64.4million and that an agreement was expected in the next 48 hours.

De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2019 and instantly became a key player during a difficult period for the club.
De Jong’s arrival at Man United will reunite him with Van de Beek, who was his midfield partner at Ajax when the club reached the Champions League semi-finals during the 2018-19 season.
Kenny insists this is an exciting development for Man United fans.
“It is exciting, it’s nice to be around people you know as a player,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“The manager is already there. It’s a great signing, it’s a statement and it’s a player Man United need.
“It’s also a sign they are going to start strengthening because things have been slow.
“The teams around them have been investing and Man United have not, as a fan you would be a little bit worried.
“Hopefully they get a few more players signed up now this one is over the line.”

New boss Erik ten Hag is yet to make any summer additions – despite releasing six stars at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Chief among the released players was £93.2million record signing Paul Pogba.
