‘Friedkins refuse full Dyche payout after sacked Everton boss gave up’

Sean Dyche has not received a full payout from Everton owners The Friedkin Group after he was sacked as the club’s manager, according to The Times.

The 53-year-old’s departure from the Toffees was confirmed on Thursday (9 January), just hours before they faced Peterborough United in the third round of the FA Cup.

According to this latest update, that exit came following days of negotiations about an exit after The Friedkin’s were left feeling Dyche had “given up” after discussions with him.

It is thought that TFG perceived that stance from the former Burnley boss as being equivalent to his resignation as Everton.

Dyche himself is said to have taken issue with that stance leading to those talks over an exit package with a settlement now having been reached.

TFG though were apparently reluctant to pay Dyche’s contract, which was due to expire in the summer, and bonuses in full given he had been the push that need for managerial change.

The American owners are also said to have been keen to take a hardline stance as they do not want to be seen as a soft touch following their takeover of Everton last month.

It does make sense that the Friedkin’s have tried to take a tough stance when it comes to the payout they are giving to Dyche following his exit.

They certainly have not been messing around since completing their take over of Everton, moving quickly to get things done as they look to put the club’s finances in order.

That suggests they are looking to run things more efficiently, particularly from a monetary perspective, which makes sense considering the problems the Toffees have faced in recent years.

With that in mind they are obviously not going to want to pay off Dyche by giving him more than they feel is appropriate, especially if he is the one to have instigated his exit.

Such a move should send out a message that Everton cannot be taken advantage of when it comes to finances, which may extend simply beyond managerial negotiations.

But while all that is promising for those connected with the club, much of how things go from here will now be influenced by whether the Friedkins get it right when appointing Dyche’s replacement.
