Fulham ace Raul Jimenez sends ‘thumbs up’ message ahead of Tottenham clash

Fulham striker Raul Jimenez sent a message to fans ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenham on Saturday.

The Mexican striker is the Cottagers’ top scorer this season with 10 goals, his best tally since the 2019/20 season.

Jimenez will want to keep his good run of form going, with the former Wolves man having established himself as the first choice at number nine, following a battle with Rodrigo Muniz earlier in the season.

Saturday’s (15 March) match will see two managers experiencing vastly different fates this season. Marco Silva has been tipped for a “big job”, while Ange Postecoglou could be facing the sack at Tottenham.

Raul Jimenez reveals positive mood at Fulham during successful season

Ahead of the clash with London rivals Tottenham, Jimenez posted an image of himself in training on Instagram, captioned: “Thumbs up if your having a good week.”

Following a chaotic period of the club’s history, Silva replaced Scott Parker and immediately instilled a belief in his players that had not been seen since Roy Hodgson’s time in charge at Craven Cottage.

The Portuguese manager got the Whites promoted on the first time of asking, and has re-established Fulham as a mid-table Premier League side.

This year, the West London club are looking to push into Europe, be it via the Premier League, or through winning a first ever FA Cup, with a quarter-final tie on 29 March on the horizon.

Fulham buck recent Premier League trend by recruiting experience

Football Insider Verdict

Bournemouth and Brighton have taken the Premier League by storm this season, and their recruitment has played a major factor.

Both clubs have shown a preference for signing younger players, such as Liverpool target Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, or Yankuba Minteh and Carlos Baleba, and developing them, with a view to making a major profit off the back of their good performances.

Whilst their rivals scour high and low across world football in search of wonderkids, Fulham are happy to take the players other teams have given up on.

Raul Jimenez was signed for £5.5million from Wolves [Sky Sports], whilst Willian and Adama Traore arrived on free transfers.

Whilst the resale value is limited on those players, all three have been integral in Fulham’s revival in recent years, in spite of their previous teams giving up on them.
