Fulham ‘alarm bells ringing’ after Marco Silva exit update

Fulham are very concerned about the prospect of losing manager Marco Silva in the off-season, sources have told Football Insider.

Silva, 47, has just over 12 months to run on his Craven Cottage contract and has refused to rule out an exit in recent days.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (12 May) that the Fulham boss is “interested” in a potential Saudi Pro League switch this summer with Al-Hilal keen on a quick appointment.

Meanwhile, Silva will be on the shortlist at Tottenham if they – as expected – relieve Ange Postecoglou of his duties.

Fulham ‘very concerned’ about Silva interest

Sources say “alarm bells are ringing” at Fulham as they brace for the very realistic possibility of losing their long-serving boss.

Silva joined the Cottagers in July 2021 and achieved promotion to the Premier League as second-tier champions in his first season.

He has since consolidated Fulham as a top-flight club but they look set to fall short in their quest for European football this season.

The west London outfit now fear they cannot persuade the Portuguese boss to reject advances and pledge his future to the club yet again.

Silva rejected a £40million two-year deal to manage Jeddah-based Al Ahli in 2023 before signing a contract extension later that year.

‘Fulham hold talks over Palhinha return’

Meanwhile, Football Insider has been told by expert Mick Brown (29 April) that Fulham have held internal talks about the possibility of bringing Joao Palhinha back to the club just one year after he left to join Bayern Munich.

Palhinha is believed to be open to a return to the Premier League after struggling for game time since his move to the Bundesliga giants.

The defensive midfielder has made just nine starts for Bayern this term.
