Fulham fans explode at ‘disgrace’ Jarred Gillett as ‘shocking’ footage analysed

Fulham fans have been left raging at referee Jarred Gillett after Brentford were awarded a controversial penalty at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Marco Silva’s side eventually came out on top, winning 3-2 after a dramatic game where first-half goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa saw the hosts come back after Raul Jiminez’s opener.

The second half saw Tom Cairney find an equaliser for Fulham, before Harry Wilson scored from distance to bring all three points back to Craven Cottage.

However, plenty of the focus from both sets of fans, the visitors in particular, rested on the referee’s performance after a “shocking” display.

Brentford were awarded a penalty with the score level at 1-1, despite claims that Kevin Schade had tripped which left both the supporters and Silva raging.

Bernd Leno ultimately saved Mbeumo’s effort from the spot, but it did little to ease the frustrations building towards Gillett in West London.

Fulham fans rage at Jarred Gillett after Brentford decision

The outbursts towards Gillett from both sets of fans at the Gtech Community Stadium come just one day after his controversial decision in the FA Cup final.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson avoided a red card after handling the ball outside of his penalty area under pressure from Erling Haaland.

However, ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett told Football Insider that Gillett was right not to send Henderson off as he did not deny a goalscoring opportunity.

The shot-stopper went on to save a penalty from Omar Marmoush, ultimately playing a vital role in winning Crystal Palace their first-ever major trophy.

Gillett labelled ‘shocking’ and a ‘disgrace’ after Brentford win

The pressure was on Gillett yet again in West London, this time as the game’s main referee, but did little to ease the outside pressure on his displays.

Fulham fans have been left particularly raging, but the Brentford supporters were also less then pleased with him in a game which saw eight yellow cards awarded.

Following the clash, visiting supporters have taken to social media to express their frustrations towards the official as they labelled him “shocking” and a “disgrace”.
