Fulham star Harry Wilson reacts to David Beckham’s Lionel Messi message

Fulham winger Harry Wilson has reacted to a message sent from Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham to Lionel Messi.

Wilson scored six goals in 25 Premier League appearances last season, helping the West Londoners finish 11th in the top flight.

Meanwhile, Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has helped Inter Miami progress to the Club World Cup knockout stages ahead of Portuguese giants Porto.

The 38-year-old deservedly created headlines with his well-struck free-kick in a shock 2-1 win over Porto on Thursday, 19 June.

Wilson reacts as Beckham sends Messi birthday message

Inter Miami will hope that Messi can once again produce the goods in the knockout stages of this summer’s new-look Club World Cup tournament.

Meanwhile, taking to Instagram on Tuesday, 24 June, Beckham wrote: “Happy birthday to the greatest.

“Have the best day to the ultimate professional, player & person.

“Happy birthday my friend.”

Beckham’s message to the Argentina international and 2022 World Cup winner attracted a like from Fulham’s Wilson.

Since joining from Liverpool back in 2021, Wilson has been a fantastic servant for Fulham, making over 140 appearances for Marco Silva’s men.

Wilson endured a lack of starts

The Wales star proved to be particularly clinical during the 2021/22 Championship season, notching 10 goals and 19 assists as the Craven Cottage club won the second-tier title with a strong haul of 90 points.

Wilson initially struggled to adjust to the demands of the Premier League, scoring just two goals and producing just two assists in 2022/23.

But over the last two seasons, the Wales international has proved himself as a dangerous asset when called upon by Silva, while Fulham have enjoyed comfortable mid-table finishes.

However, last season, the 28-year-old made just 12 Premier League starts, and could grow unhappy if he is not handed more game time by the West Londoners next season.

The Wales international’s Fulham contract expires in 2026, and he could be keen to depart on a free transfer if he has not been given more starting opportunities.
