Fulham star Antonee Robinson shares major fitness update message

Antonee Robinson took to social media to share a major fitness update with Fulham supporters.

During the first half of the season, the USA international was in the best form of his career and the numbers matched the eye test.

Flying down the left flank, the ex-Wigan man quickly registered 10 assists in the Premier League, and Robinson was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

But the 28-year-old’s numbers and performances tailed off as the season drew on, with Marco Silva turning to Ryan Sessegnon as his left-back of choice near the back end of the campaign.

As his performances dipped, so did the interest in Robinson, with Liverpool turning to Milos Kerkez as their Andy Robertson successor.

Antonee Robinson undergoing rehab after surgery

Robinson was forced to withdraw from the USA squad in March and chose to undergo surgery on his knee.

The fullback, it turns out, had been producing world-class-level performances whilst suffering an issue that limited how much he could train with Fulham.

Whilst many have jetted off around the world for some rest and relaxation, Robinson shared on his Instagram story that he was instead working hard and rehabbing.

Fulham in need of more depth to thin squad

Football Insider Verdict

Robinson‘s injury last season came at the cost of Fulham‘s performances, as his absence coincided with the Whites falling away in the race for Europe.

The USA fullback’s 10 assists were the most of any defender, with Man City’s new man Rayan Ait-Nouri up next with seven.

The last of those assists came on 1 February in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, underlining just how good Robinson was in the first half of the season.

But if Fulham are serious in their desire to achieve a return to European football after more than a decade away, their squad requires more depth in talent.

The next best provider of goals was Adama Traore with seven and without a more consistent source of chance creation, the Cottagers will once again fall behind rivals like Brentford and Brighton.
