Fulham star Pereira posts after clash with Liverpool’s Mac Allister, Rashford reacts

Andreas Pereira has posted on social media showing an altercation with Alexis Mac Allister during Fulham’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool.

The Cottagers became just the second side to beat Arne Slot‘s men in the Premier League this season, capitalising on a poor first-half display from the visitors.

Having gone behind in the match through an accurate long-range strike by Mac Allister, Fulham were shortly back in the game when Ryan Sessegnon took advantage of a mistake by makeshift Liverpool right-back Curtis Jones.

Andy Robertson was next at fault, when the 31-year-old’s poor pass gifted the home side possession in the area, with Alex Iwobi on hand to put Fulham ahead.

Liverpool were unable to regain control in the match and went further behind after an excellent turn and finish by Rodrigo Muniz, before substitute’s Luis Diaz and Conor Bradley combined to score what turned out to be a consolation goal.

Tensions almost boiled over at Craven Cottage

In a post via Instagram on Sunday (6, April), the Brazilian shared a series of images from the match, including one of him in an altercation with Mac Allister.

The post has since been liked by multiple Premier League stars, including Aston Villa’s on-loan Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, along with fellow countrymen in Newcastle star Bruno Guimarares and Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes.

The match winner on the day, Muniz, also reacted with a comment which said: “You the real one” in response to the 29-year-old’s performance.

A top performance from Fulham

Football Insider verdict

It was an excellent display from Marco Silva‘s side against a Liverpool coming into the match 26 games unbeaten.

Following Mac Allister’s wonder goal, it would have been easy for Fulham’s heads to drop, however instead it woke the home team up.

The Whites forced Liverpool into some sloppy errors throughout, with the midfield trio of Sessegnon, Pereira and Iwobi being led well by Muniz in the press.

Liverpool’s and Fulham’s stats were very even in the game.

Perhaps other teams could have got a similar result against the league leaders, if they had been braver in and out of possession.

It was the first time since their 7-2 loss to Aston Villa in October 2020 that Liverpool had conceded three times in the first half of a Premier League game.

Undoubtedly, the Reds’ next opponents will be analysing the blueprint set by Fulham in order to have any sort of success against Liverpool in the remaining games this season.
