Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz messages Emerson Palmieri after West Ham beat Leicester

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz has responded to Emerson Palmieri’s message to West Ham fans after the 2-0 win over Leicester City.

Graham Potter’s side subjected Ruud van Nistelrooy to his 11th league defeat since being appointed as the new Leicester boss, with Tomas Soucek opening the scoring on 27 February.

The Czechia international pounced after a fantastic save from Mads Hermansen, with Jarrod Bowen seemingly doubling the Hammers’ lead just before the half-time break.

However, Bowen took issue with the Premier League after his effort went down as a Jannik Vestergaard own goal, taking his eighth league goal of the season away from him at the London Stadium.

Emerson Palmieri earns rave review from Premier League rival

Taking to Instagram [27 February], Emerson wrote: “Three points in the bag!”, even earning a like from Clermont Foot’s Habib Keita.

Replying to the post, Muniz, who has notched five goals and an assist in the Premier League this season, commented with two fire emojis.

The Italy international played just 25 minutes against the Foxes, replacing academy graduate Ollie Scarles in the second half, though he still helped ensure the Hammers kept a clean sheet at home.

Graham Potter begins to get West Ham firing

Football Insider verdict

The Hammers are now 16 points clear of the relegation zone, boasting back-to-back wins over Arsenal and Leicester.

Arsenal were certainly handed a set-back by Myles Lewis-Skelly’s red card, but it was an incredible performance by West Ham, one which seemed impossible during Julen Lopetegui’s tenure.

While victories have been hard to come by, even under Potter, recent displays have been far more impressive, deserving of a big boost away from the dreaded dropzone.

Graham Potter has led West Ham away from the relegation zone.

With 11 games remaining, there will likely be twists and turns until the end of the Premier League season, but the former Brighton and Chelsea figure looks to be getting his players firing on all cylinders.

Aaron Cresswell has made an unexpected return to the starting XI, and despite Jean-Clair Todibo wanting a West Ham exit last month, he has become an integral figure in the backline.

There is plenty to be excited about at the London Stadium under new management, though until he can bring in his own players in the summer transfer window, there will be hiccups along the way.
