Fulham’s summer transfer woes come back to haunt them after what happened against Aston Villa

Fulham took an early lead away at Villa Park during the early kick-off on Sunday, but Marco Silva will still be disappointed.

Fulham beat Brentford 3-1, but the mood around Craven Cottage was dampened when it was announced Rodrigo Muniz would miss their trip to Aston Villa.

Silva has been vocal about Fulham’s lack of transfer business in the summer window, and the lack of acquisitions looks to be hampering the Cottagers.

Muniz is currently sidelined with an injury, and Silva’s squad looks light at the number nine position early in the season.

Raul Jimenez forced off with an injury early against Aston Villa

Fulham took the lead three minutes into the match against Aston Villa thanks to a well-placed header from Raul Jimenez.

Jimenez wheeled away to celebrate with Sasa Lukic, who delivered the ball to the Mexican and was subsequently mauled by his teammates.

In the ensuing celebrations, it appeared Jimenez had injured his right hip going off through an injury to that area less than 10 minutes into the match.

Jimenez will now join Muniz on the injury list, and Silva is without a recognised striker, having to replace the Mexican with winger Adama Traore.

Marco Silva hampered by Fulham’s poor summer business again

Fulham have made a steady start to the new Premier League campaign, drawing against Man United and Brighton, and beating both Brentford and Leeds United.

While other clubs made a host of summer additions, Fulham only added Kevin and backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte to their side.

Fulham’s biggest success story has been youth product Josh King, who has lit up highlight reels in the early part of this campaign.

Silva’s side will face a tough October, travelling to Bournemouth and Newcastle United and hosting Arsenal.

After injuries to his two strikers, Silva will now be scratching his head and wondering how he will set his team up, as they look light once again due to a poor transfer window.
