Gabby Agbonlahor in complete agreement with Wayne Rooney over key Man United problem

Manchester United have begun their season in steady fashion, winning two of their opening five Premier League games.

Ruben Amorim has been on the hot seat during the early stages of the season due to Man United’s performances in the 3-4-2-1 shape he’s so wedded to.

Amorim’s falling out with Kobbie Mainoo has also lost the Portuguese head coach some credit with United’s fanbase in recent weeks.

However, Man United’s chaotic win over Chelsea has bought Amorim time, ahead of October’s international break.

Man United have a favourable run of fixtures coming up before the break, and Amorim will hope to avoid the sack by earning maximum points against Brentford and Sunderland.

Gabby Agbonlahor questions Bruno Fernandes as Man United captain

One of the many questions surrounding Man United recently have focused on Bruno Fernandes and his role in Amorim’s system.

However, talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor has questioned Fernandes for a different reason, saying: “I don’t know why they took the captaincy off Harry Maguire.

“Bruno Fernandes is not a leader, he’s a great player. I look at Harry Maguire in the Chelsea game and he’s at it, being physical and aggressive. He speaks with his teammates, he’s a natural leader.”

Maguire is the vice captain at Man United but doesn’t feature regularly in the first team, getting displaced this season by Matthijs de Ligt.

Gabby Agbonlahor echoes Wayne Rooney’s views

24 hours prior to Agbonlahor’s comments, ex-United captain Wayne Rooney spoke of similar issues he felt Man United were currently suffering from.

Rooney said Man United lack leaders on Rio Ferdinand’s ‘Rio Meets’ podcast, when discussing what he felt has changed at the club.

Bruno Fernandes has once again had an excellent start to the season

Fernandes, who is the club captain, has been criticised for his captaincy and behaviour while wearing the armband for Man United, despite his on-pitch qualities.

Man United will hope to block out the noise ahead of their favourable run in the Premier League before the international break leads the Red Devils into a meeting with Liverpool later next month.
