Gabriel Jesus drops Arsenal return hint after injury update

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was made to endure a frustrating season last time out but may have just provided a positive hint about his future.

The 28-year-old striker started just six Premier League games, with 27 total appearances across all competitions, while Mikel Arteta’s side failed to win silverware.

A cruciate ligament tear suffered in January ruled the Brazil international out for the rest of the season in what proved to be a huge blow to the Gunners.

Arsenal fans were left stunned by his injury blow after he was stretchered off during their FA Cup defeat to Man United, leaving the club short of numbers up front.

A later injury to Kai Havertz further piled on the misery and saw Arteta end the season with Mikel Merino playing a regular role up front.

Gabriel Jesus shares new Arsenal injury update

Despite major concerns at the time and a long rehabilitation process, Jesus has now hinted that a return may be close as the Gunners step up their pre-season preparations.

This is not the first injury hint the striker has dropped via his social media, as Jesus posted a video in a private gym, before images of himself on a training pitch.

Now, he has shared two videos to Instagram in which he is seen doing kick-ups before kicking the ball against a wall at what appears to be the Gunners’ training centre.

Almost six months after suffering the cruciate ligament blow, the forward now finally looks to be close to a return to on-pitch action in the new season.

Viktor Gyokeres update emerges at the Emirates

Jesus’ return is unlikely to have a major impact on Arsenal and Arteta’s plans in the coming weeks, as they continue efforts to bring a new striker to the Emirates.

Football Insider revealed on 7 July that Arsenal are confident of signing Viktor Gyokeres and are putting the finishing touches on a full agreement with the forward.

The move has delayed slightly as they attempt to negotiate the price tag with Sporting CP, but the striker has made his intentions to join the Gunners clear.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 July that Arsenal are closing in on signing Gyokeres after his agent was in Lisbon for face-to-face talks with Sporting.
