Gabriel Jesus shares new footage amid Arsenal injury struggle

Gabriel Jesus has shared an injury update on social media as the Arsenal striker attempts to return to full fitness ahead of the new season.

The Brazilian has been sidelined since January, managing just 40 minutes against Man United in the FA Cup before having to be replaced, then undergoing a successful surgery on his knee.

Mikel Arteta was thrown further trouble as Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka were both injured, leaving him without a recognised striker and having to adapt Mikel Merino from the centre of midfield.

The Spaniard faced plenty of criticism from the fan base after failing to bring in a centre-forward during the winter transfer window, and Arsenal’s deal for Viktor Gyokeres now looks to have stalled.

Jesus’ recent updates will come as a huge boost for the manager, with Premier League and Champions League success on the minds of supporters, so it remains to be seen how much of a role he will play.

Mikel Arteta to strengthen attacking arsenal

Football Insider verdict

Arteta could be in real trouble from Arsenal fans if he cannot secure a deal for Gyokeres, though Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko are both in the conversation at the Emirates Stadium.

Surprisingly, Ethan Nwaneri has also been linked with an Arsenal exit, though Football Insider understands that the Gunners have no intention of offloading the young talent.

Gabriel Martinelli, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Reiss Nelson could all leave the club, and that would open up some funds, but it is about time for the Londoners to spend big this summer.

With Andrea Berta now appointed, there should be no excuses for a failed summer transfer window for the Gunners, but supporters are losing hope that the needed deals will get done.

They may have been within one spot of the Premier League title, and just one game away from the Champions League final, but the team were outclassed in both competitions.

Arteta is at a junction this summer. Fans cannot continue without silverware, and while he is a much-loved figure in North London, he is running out of time to achieve his goals.
