Gabriel Jesus speaks out about Arsenal transfer as he names ideal next club – ‘They want me as well’

Gabriel Jesus has hinted at staying at Arsenal for the remainder of the season despite the Brazilian becoming increasingly surplus to requirements at Emirates Stadium.

Jesus has been suffering with an ACL injury since January, with the striker back in training and aiming to return to action before the end of the year.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order during his time on the sidelines after Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres in the summer transfer window alongside other attacking additions.

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland means the Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table by four points over Jesus’ previous club Man City.

Gabriel Jesus claims ‘it makes no sense’ to leave Arsenal

Speaking to Brazilian publication Revista Placar, [13 November], Jesus does not see the need to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window.

“There was never contact with another club. My wish, as I always say, is to return to Palmeiras. And Palmeiras also want me to come back,” Jesus said.

When I feel it’s the right time to go back to Palmeiras, I’ll decide that with Arsenal.

“But we’re talking about a player who has been out for nine months and is now fighting to return to the team. Some journalists speak without any basis.

After such a complex surgery, it makes no sense for me to leave the club now.”

Arsenal told what could halt their title hopes

Mikel Arteta has been told that Arsenal could have an injury crisis, which could again derail their title hopes.

With Kai Havertz and Gyokeres both missing for the draw at Sunderland, injuries in the squad may be why Arteta will not want Jesus to leave in January.

Arsenal may only let Jesus leave if they can secure a replacement, which could be tricky and expensive in the winter market.
