Gabriel Magalhaes, Myles Lewis-Skelly react to new arrival at Arsenal

Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly have each reacted to a key new announcement at Arsenal ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Arsenal finished last season without a trophy after coming second in the Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of both the Champions League and the EFL Cup.

Mikel Arteta is looking to make adjustments to his squad this summer as the Gunners look to go one better and bring silverware back to North London, with Martin Zubimendi recently signed from Real Sociedad.

Arsenal will not want to lose any key players ahead of the new season, but Football Insider have revealed that the Gunners are concerned about Real Madrid’s interest in William Saliba, who has formed an almighty partnership with Gabriel at the back in recent years.

Neither Gabriel nor Lewis-Skelly seem likely to leave anytime soon, but they are set to welcome some new teammates to the Emirates in coming weeks as Arsenal close in on a move for Viktor Gyokeres, and they have now reacted to a major new announcement that will have a big affect on the team next season.

Arsenal announce Gabriel Heinze as new first-team coach

Away from the playing squad, Arsenal had a new signing to make in terms of their backroom staff this summer after Arteta’s assistant Carlos Cuesta left the club last month to become the new head-coach of Serie A side Parma.

They have now filled that position by bringing in former Manchester United and Argentina defender Gabriel Heinze as a first-team coach, and they announced his arrival on Instagram on Tuesday, 8 July, with a picture of him in their training kit and a caption, saying: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Gabriel Heinze to our coaching staff as men’s First Team Coach.

“Heinze, a former Argentina international, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the club. We are excited with the introduction of Gabriel to our men’s first-team coaching staff, and welcome him and his family to Arsenal.”

The Gunners’ announcement was reacted to by both Gabriel and Lewis-Skelly, who each left a like on the post in support of the new appointment.

Arsenal’s window is shaping up well after a slow start

Football Insider verdict

Arsenal need to make clear improvements in numerous positions this summer to be in with a chance of silverware in the Premier League or Champions League next season, and after a slow start, they look to be progressing well with numerous important deals right now.

Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday, 7 July, that Arsenal are set to step up their efforts to sign Noni Madueke soon, and he has already agreed personal teams with the Gunners, so that could well happen soon and instantly bolster Arteta’s attacking options.

They are also moving closer to bringing in a much-needed high-profile striker addition, with Football Insider revealing this week that Arsenal are confident they have a full agreement in place to sign Gyokeres from Sporting.

With Zubimendi and Kepa through the door in recent weeks, their window is definitely shaping up to be a positive one as the new season edges ever closer, after it had initially looked like they may be in for a summer of disappointment.
