Gabriel Magalhaes sends message to Arsenal fans after Tottenham controversy
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has taken to social media to celebrate his side’s controversial 2-1 win over North London rivals on Wednesday (January 15).
The 27-year-old played a crucial role for Mikel Arteta’s side as they closed the gap on league leaders Liverpool to just four points.
Spurs captain Heung-Min Son gave the visitors the lead in the 25th minute after his volley took a heavy deflection, catching David Raya in the Arsenal goal out.
Controversy struck in the 40th minute when Leandro Trossard’s cross bounced off Pedro Porro and back onto the Belgian but Arsenal were awarded a corner instead of Spurs being given a goal kick.
Gabriel towered above the Tottenham defender to meet Rice’s inswinging corner but the final touch came off of Spurs forward Dominic Solanke and was given as an own goal.
Trossard scored the winner just before half-time, giving Mikel Arteta’s side a much-needed win in the race for the Premier League title.
