Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has taken to social media to poke some fun at teammate Riccardo Calafiori after their 3-1 Premier League win over Brentford on Wednesday (January 1).

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus continued his rich vein of form, scoring the equaliser 13 minutes later to send the two sends into the break on level footing.
Arteta’s side made a lightning start to the second half, taking the lead through Mikel Merino in the 50th minute before Martinelli secured all three points just three minutes later.

Calafiori has seen multiple injury issues somewhat hamper his progress at the club, missing 11 games for club and country since joining in the summer transfer window.
The defender has impressed when he’s played, however, starting 11 of his 15 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing one assist in his 1705 minutes of action.
Calafiori took to Instagram to celebrate the win with an image of himself and Martinelli together, saying: “Starting 2025 with 3 points,” to which his teammate responded, “My guy Tarzan.”

Arsenal have a tricky run of fixtures throughout January, including games against Newcastle, Man United, and arch-rivals Tottenham.
Arteta’s side will face out-of-form Brighton in their second game of 2025 on Saturday (January 4) as they seek to gain further ground on Liverpool.
