Gabriel Martinelli sends hilarious message to Lewis-Skelly after what he did vs Port Vale
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli admitted that he needs one thing from Myles Lewis-Skelly after their latest win.
Arsenal advanced to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup after Mikel Arteta’s side beat Port Vale in a 2-0 victory.
The Brazilian winger was rewarded with a start after Martinelli’s stoppage-time goal against Man City, which came after a crucial strike against Athletic Club in the Champions League.
While he didn’t score or assist against Port Vale, he was involved in the first goal after his pass into the box saw a flick from Lewis-Skelly into the path of Eberechi Eze to score his first goal for the club.
Now, Martinelli has shared a message to the Arsenal youngster regarding the assist he was given in a light-hearted post.
Gabriel Martinelli wants the assist for Eberechi Eze’s goal
Martinelli was spotted commenting on Arsenal’s official Instagram page, showcasing their first goal against Port Vale, and wants to claim the assist.
The angle of the reel showed Lewis-Skelly may not have touched the ball that reached Eze, and the winger commented: “My assist bro @myleslewisskelly you didn’t touch the ball” with laughing emojis.

The official assist has been awarded to Lewis-Skelly, meaning the winger may need to do some more convincing if he wants the youngster to hand it over.
Meanwhile, Martinelli’s position has come under threat this season, with Arsenal signing Eze in a £67 million deal over the summer. Despite that, Mikel Arteta lined both players up in the same team in their latest fixture.
Lewis-Skelly fighting for minutes amid Riccardo Calafiori challenge
Lewis-Skelly’s instinct to drift into the pockets during the attacking phase proved a viable tactic last term, and while his assist against Port Vale is questionable, he showed his attacking threat.
However, the left-back has seen a similar story to Martinelli this season, where both players have been benched for the majority of the campaign.

With Arteta preferring Riccardo Calafiori at left-back, Lewis-Skelly must make the most of opportunities in cup competitions to prove he can make an impact from the start.
In his academy days, the 18-year-old played as a central midfielder, and that is evident when he drifts into central areas from left-back. If he can keep showing that versatility, he could soon give Arteta a selection dilemma.
