Gabriel Martinelli sends message to Arsenal teammates after Leicester drama
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli took to social media to congratulate his teammates after their 2-0 Premier League win over strugglers Leicester.
The 23-year-old was forced to watch on from the sidelines on Saturday 15 February as a late Mikel Merino brace secured all three points for the North London club.
Merino replaced Raheem Sterling in the 69th minute after the Chelsea loanee had yet another disappointing outing for Arsenal.
Sterling has failed to recapture his old Man City form since joining on loan from Chelsea in the summer, with talkSPORT personality Simon Jordan urging Sterling to “step up” for Arsenal amid an ongoing injury crisis at the club.
The Spaniard opened the scoring in the 81st minute with a powerful header past Mads Hermansen in the Leicester goal before securing the win just six minutes later.
Arsenal are now just four points off the Premier League leaders with 53 from their 25 games following Liverpool’s late 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby at Everton.

The winger had been a key player for Arsenal before his recent injury, starting 27 of his 35 games across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing four assists in his 2378 minutes of action.
Many fans remain unconvinced by the Brazilian, however, going as far as to suggest Arsenal should have sold Martinelli in January after reported interest from Newcastle.
He took to Instagram after their edgy 2-0 Premier League win over Leicester to show support to his teammates, with a series of heart emojis.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have both been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Bukayo Saka and Martinelli are also out, although their injuries aren’t as serious.
Arsenal will host East Londoners West Ham in their next league game as they seek to gain further ground on Arne Slot’s impressive Liverpool side.
