Galatasaray move to sign Tottenham’s Ben Davies after deal agreed – report

Galatasaray are reportedly plotting to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies before the transfer window shuts.

The Turkish giants have until 13 September to make further signings, and the club are monitoring the Wales international as an option.

According to Takvim, Galatasaray are going to switch to a back five after signing Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli.

That has led to the club needing to sign another defender to play that formation, and Davies is being seen as an ideal candidate to fill that role.

The 31-year-old has experience playing in a back five and but has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs, having yet to play a game this season.

Davies is out of contract with Tottenham next summer, meaning this potential move would be the club’s final chance to cash in on him.

Galatasaray want to use Ben Davies’ experience at the back

Davies has been at Tottenham since 2014, and since that time he’s made 330 appearances for the club.

The versatile defender has the ability to play as a centre-back or full-back, but he only made 19 appearances for Spurs last season.

Galatasaray are hoping to exploit his lack of game time by offering him more regular football.

Tottenham

Despite not playing for Spurs yet this season, Davies did feature against Turkey in Wales’ most recent Nations League match.

He has been on the bench for all three of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season.
