Leeds United forward Pierre-Michel has described himself as a “typical number nine” following his arrival this summer.

The 25-year-old made the move to Elland Road on a season-long loan from German club Hamburg and will hope to fill the void left by Chris Wood.

He is contention to make his debut for the Yorkshire club on Saturday when the Whites host Burton in the Championship at 3pm.

Lasogga has spent most of his career so far in the German top flight and has scored 34 goals in 128 Bundesliga appearances.

However, he has decided to make the move to English football during the summer and will be looking be looking to prove his worth in the Championship.

The German forward has admitted that he usually operates in and around the box, with his predatory instincts something that should help him become a prolific goalscorer for Leeds.

“I’m a typical number nine so my game is in the box,” Lasogga told BBC Radio Yorkshire. “I try to fight for the team, for the whole club and give my best in every match. When I have a lucky game I score.”

Leeds now have several forward options and Lasogga will be looking to cement his position at the top of the pecking order.

He will have to fight off competition from the likes of Kemar Roofe, Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki.

Leeds fans may be encouraged by the fact that Lassoga views himself as a poacher as Wood found brilliant success playing a similar role last season.

The Whites now have the creative spark from the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Ezgjan Alioski and Samu Saiz to ensure that the strikers get plenty of opportunities in front of goal.
