Dele Alli was recalled to the England team for their World Cup qualifier win against Lithuania on Sunday evening – and fans took to Twitter to slam his performance.

Alli played 81 minutes for Gareth Southgate’s new-look side as they laboured to a 1-0 win that was secured courtesy of a first-half goal from his Spurs teammate Harry Kane.

Alli, 21, has established himself as a regular in the England side after two outstanding seasons for Tottenham and slotted back into the team after missing the victory against Slovenia on Thursday due to suspension.

But England fans were unimpressed with the display of the Spurs playmaker as the visitors struggled to gel or consistently threaten the opposition goal.

Supporters took to social media afterwards to lay into Alli, with many claiming he is far less effective for his country than he is for his club.
