Garry Monk delivers honest verdict on Leeds FA Cup clash

By Amir Mir

Garry Monk has stated that “no games are easy” ahead of their FA Cup clash against Cambridge on Monday evening.

The Whites travel to the Abbey Stadium looking to ensure that the League Two outfit don’t cause an upset against the Championship giants.

Leeds have been in great form this season, in particular, the second-tier where they are chasing promotion to the Premier League.

By contrast, their opponents are chasing their own promotion into League One as they currently sit one point outside of the top six.

Ahead of the game, Monk had a warning message to his players as he seemed to ensure that they will not take their opponents lightly.

“It is a tight ground,” Monk told the club’s official website. “There will be an atmosphere but we have to concentrate on ourselves. No games are easy.”

Monk took charge of the Elland Road club in the summer and he has since guided them to a number of positive results this term.

They sit in the top six in the Championship and have shown tremendous form this season, including producing a spirited display in the EFL Cup earlier on in the campaign.

The Yorkshire club were knocked out of the quarter-final stages of that competition after falling to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League side Liverpool in November.

Monk’s side will be looking to produce those same displays again as they aim to push on and make their mark in the FA Cup.
