Garry Monk explains the most pleasing aspect of Leeds win
By Amir Mir
Garry Monk has stated that he is pleased that Leeds’ defence was hardly threatened as they recorded a 1-0 win over Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Bartley scored a late header to give the Yorkshire club all three points, their third consecutive win on home soil.
The win also gives Monk’s side a much-needed boost in their promotion hopes this season, as they are now two points clear of the top six chasers.
The away side had ten shots on goal, with four hitting the target, but the Whites dominated possession.
After the game Monk provided his verdict on his side’s performance, as reported by the club’s official Twitter account.
“Defensively we weren’t really threatened which was pleasing,” said Monk.
Monk’s side have won four out of their last five league games, with their sole loss coming against automatic hopefuls Brighton.
As well as picking up three consecutive wins at home, Leeds have also kept three clean sheets on the bounce at Elland Road.
As a result they sit in fifth place in the Championship table on 38 points from 22 games, seven points off an automatic spot.
The Whites will now take on Preston on Boxing day, before travelling to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa three days later in what will be a crucial festive period.
In other Leeds news, supporters on Twitter hailed Luke Ayling for his display against Brentford.
