Monk posts Twitter message after Leeds win against Forest, states what was important

By Amir Mir

Garry Monk has hailed the importance of showing a reaction after Leeds beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Wednesday night at Elland Road.

The Whites were previously beaten 3-2 at Barnsley, but they fought back with a well deserved three points against a struggling Forest side.

Striker Chris Wood netted his 20th goal of the season when his close-range effort crossed the line ten minutes into the second half.

Leeds, who had the returning Pontus Jansson in their defensive backline, searched for another and got their reward through Souleymane Doukara’s brilliant volley.

After the game, Monk delivered this message to supporters as posted on his personal Twitter account.

That win puts Monk’s side back into third place in the Championship table, seven points adrift of second-placed Newcastle, who have a game in hand on their rivals.

More importantly, they are eight points clear of Derby, who sit one place outside the play-off places, but Leeds have played one game extra than their rivals.

Monk’s side will be hoping to continue their impressive form as they aim to make a return to the Premier League.

They have won six consecutive league games on home soil this term, keeping a clean sheet in all of those matches and with their last defeat coming against automatic hopefuls Newcastle.

The Yorkshire club will now turn their attention to the FA Cup where they will be looking to avoid an upset when they travel to minnows Sutton United on Sunday.
