Monk sends message to Leeds fans after Q&A, shares factor behind transformation

By Dominic Toner

Leeds manager Garry Monk has revealed that “togetherness” has been one of the key factors behind the club’s success this season.

The Whites have been transformed into real promotion candidates this season by Monk during his first year in charge.

They are currently fourth-placed in the Championship table during the international break and look set to be involved in the play-offs.

Monk and his coaching staff were present at an ‘Evening with…’ event on Tuesday night with supporters and that showed how close the Yorkshire club have come this season.

The 38-year-old revealed his delight after the event and claimed that togetherness has been pivotal to their achievements this campaign.

“Really enjoyable evening spent with our fans. Togetherness is one of the values that has been central to our work right from day one,” Monk wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Monk is only experiencing his second spell as a manager during his career after a previous spell with Swansea in the Premier League.

The Leeds boss is now trying to help his current side get to the top-flight and they have exceeded all pre-season expectations.

They have been in the top six for the majority of the season and Monk has managed to bring a winning mentality to their squad.

The Whites’ solid home form has played a massive role and 27-goal hero Chris Wood continues to impress in attack.

In other Leeds news, Harry Redknapp has delivered his verdict on the club’s promotion chances.
