Match of the Day host and former striker Gary Lineker has blasted Tottenham duo Victor Wanyama and Hugo Lloris as “poor” and “awful” following the 2-1 defeat against Chelsea.
The north London club kicked off their home league campaign at Wembley with a loss after two goals from Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso cancelled out a Michy Batshuayi own goal.
It was a disappointing result for Spurs to open their season at home after going unbeaten at White Hart Lane in the last campaign and many felt that Lloris could have done better for the last goal conceded, while others slammed Wanyama for continuously giving the ball away.
The popular Lineker would seemingly fall in that category after he blasted the pairs performance via his personal Twitter account after the match finished on Sunday.
Brilliant from Kante. Great from Alonso. Poor from Wanyama. Awful from Lloris. Huge for Chelsea. Killer for Spurs.

The defeat on Sunday has now meant that Totenham have only won one game against Chelsea in their last seven encounters, suffering four defeats and battling to two draws.
It has also seen Spurs drop to ninth place in the league table at this early stage as they look to repeat and better last season’s second placed finish.
Tottenham will host Burnley at Wembley next Sunday and the north Londoners will be keen to return to winning ways as soon as possible.
In other Tottenham news, Chris Sutton believes this Spurs player should have seen a red against Chelsea.
