Gary Lineker delivers amusing Twitter verdict on Fellaini display against Everton

By Harvey Byrne

Gary Lineker shared a humorous Twitter verdict on Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s performance against Everton, stating it was his best for the Toffees.

The 29-year-old made a five minute cameo appearance off the bench with United 1-0 up, but within five minutes he brought Idrissa Gueye down in the box, which allowed Leighton Baines to equalise from the spot.

It will have been a moment Fellaini will want to put behind him as quickly as possible.

However, Match of the Day host Lineker was amused by the error on his personal Twitter account and linked the midfielder to his former club.

Fellaini was a member of the Everton side for five years between 2008 and 2013, playing in 177 encounters for the club.

He’s never been one known for his quality technical ability, or footwork and his unorthodox style brings out the occasional mistake.

His error has brought a vital point to Everton, who had picked up just one in their previous five fixtures.

It has left the Toffees in eighth place in the league table, one point behind their Sunday opponents.

Ronald Koeman is looking to improve on last season’s 11th placed finish and although fifth and above looks out of the club’s reach, he will still have a Europa League place in his sights.
