Gary Lineker reacts emphatically on Twitter to Liverpool display against Crystal Palace

Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to slam “shambolic” Liverpool defending as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Two goals from former Anfield player Christian Benteke cancelled out Philippe Coutinho’s superbly executed free-kick.
It means Liverpool are now in a major battle to secure a top-four Premier League finish and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Pundits were critical of the defending from Jurgen Klopp’s side, both for Benteke’s snap-shot for the equaliser and the Beglian’s second-half headed winner from a corner.
Match of the Day host Lineker highlighted how Liverpool’s defending of set pieces had once again proved to be their achilles heel.

“A second for Benteke gives Palace the lead, but Liverpool’s defending at corners is shambolic,” wrote former Spurs striker Lineker on his personal Twitter account during the second half of the match.

Senior centre-back Dejan Lovren was at fault for both of Palace’s goals and was strongly criticised by pundits and supporters alike for his display.
Liverpool had started the match with their first-choice front five of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and defensive quarter James Milner, Lovren, Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the club are clear favourites to sign a world-class playmaker after a dramatic development.
