Confirmed: Shock team news for Tottenham clash against Chelsea: Fans would not have seen this coming
By Harry Sykes
Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have been dropped from the Chelsea team for their FA Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham on Saturday.
The star duo, who are arguably the team’s two most important players, are on the substitute’s bench for the Wembley showdown.
Antonio Conte has taken what appears to be a huge gamble by omitted Costa and Hazard, and giving the nod to striker Michy Batshuayi and winger Willian.
Conte has also selected Nathan Ake in defence ahead of skipper John Terry and Kurt Zouma after illness ruled out regular Gary Cahill.

Batshuayi, Willian, Ake and fit-again pair Marcos Alonso and Thibaut Cortois replace Costa, Hazard, Cahill, Kurt Zouma and Asmir Begovic.
Conte could be prioritising his side’s match against Southampton on Tuesday in the Premier League after seeing their sizeable lead in the table drop to just four points.
Spurs have been given a real glimmer of hope in the title race by Chelsea’s recent stutters in which they have lost two of their last four matches.
The two sides will take a break from the title to aim for the FA Cup win that will secure a place in next month’s final against Arsenal or Manchester City, who will play one another on Sunday.
In other Tottenham team news, the club have sensationally terminated the contract of one of their defenders.
