Gary Lineker tells Ian Wright that Tottenham striker Kane is better than Real Madrid sensation
By Amir Mir
Gary Lineker has told his Match of the Day colleague, Ian Wright, that he thinks Tottenham striker Harry Kane is better than Karim Benzema.
Former Arsenal forward Wright was lauding Kane for winning the Golden Boot awrd for a second consecutive season.
Wright then claimed that Kane’s performances in recent seasons means that he is “as good as” Real Madrid star Benzema before Lineker interpreted to tell him that Kane is a better player.
The duo were speaking on Match of the Day, which aired on BBC One on Sunday evening after the final round of Premier League matches for the season.
“When you can give that kind of return like he has done for the last three seasons, remember even last season people were saying they are still not sure about him,” Wright told Match of the Day.

“I believe he is as good as [Karim] Benzema, I genuinely believe that.”
Former Spurs striker and MOTD presenter Lineker then interrupted Wright and said, “He might be even better,” Wright then asked Lineker if he thinks Kane is better than Benzema to which he simply responded, “Yes.”
England international Kane scored a hat-trick for his side as they finished the season with a thumping 7-1 win away at relegated Hull City on Sunday afternoon.
That meant that he finished off the campaign as the top scorer in England’s top flight with an incredible 29 goals from his 30 league games.
Added with that, due to his injuries this term, he only played three Champions League matches earlier on in the campaign but scored two goals.
By contrast, Benzema has scored 11 goals in 29 league matches for his Spanish club as they wrapped up the La Liga title on the last day of the season.
Not only that, he has scored five goals from 12 Champions League matches as the Madrid club aim to win back-to-back European trophies.
The France international has played in every Champions League match for Zinedine Zidane’s side, who will play Juventus in the final in Cardiff on June 3.
