Gary O’Neil sack latest: Wolves begin new manager search
Wolves fear the manager job will be a “tough sell” for candidates if they sack Gary O’Neil, sources have told Football Insider.
O’Neil is expected to come under huge sack pressure this week after his side lost 2-1 away at West Ham on Monday (9 December)
The search for potential replacements is underway at Molineux after a dismal start to the 2024-25 campaign.
However, the Midlands club fear they will be unable to attract a top manager to the job as they will have limited funds to spend in the January transfer window.
That is despite selling top players like Max Kilman and Pedro Neto in the most recent summer window.
Wolves sit 19th in the Premier League table and are four points adrift of safety after 15 games.
David Moyes, Luton manager Rob Edwards and West Brom boss Carlos Corberan have been linked with the potential vacancy at Molineux.
O’Neil has overseen just two wins from 14 Premier League games this term – a 2-0 victory against Southampton and a 4-1 triumph away at Fulham.
Wolves fear manager job is ‘tough sell’
Any new manager could come into the role ahead of two crunch clashes against Ipswich Town (14 December) and Leicester City (22 December).
The two sides are also hovering around the Premier League drop zone as the halfway point of this season rapidly approaches.

O’Neil replaced now-West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui at the start of the 2023-24 campaign and led Wolves to a 14th-place finish last term.
The ex-midfielder is under contract at Molineux until June 2028 after signing a new deal in the off-season.
