Centre-forward Dwight Gayle is “expected at training” with Newcastle United on Thursday morning despite continued links with an exit from St. James’ Park, according to a reliable journalist.
Lee Ryder, the chief footballer reporter for the Chronicle and multimedia journalist at the Tyneside club, has revealed that the 26-year-old is expected to train with his team mates at the club on deadline day.
The journalist also claims that Fulham haven’t followed up after their “initial interest” in the club’s top scorer.
This follows a report from Sky Sports new on Twitter which revealed that London club Fulham had submitted a huge £15 million bid for the forward in the hopes of landing him in the closing moments of the transfer window.

Gayle signed for Newcastle from Crystal Palace last year in a deal worth just over £10 million.
The goal-machine became a key part of the Magpies squad and was a driving force behind the club’s promotion to the top flight.
Throughout his debut season, Gayle scored 23 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions which made him the club’s top goalscorer.
Football Insider verdict
It will be hard for Dwight Gayle turning up to training this morning knowing that there’s a huge bid on the table for him. However, it shows his commitment and dedication to the club, as so often players in the Premier League are seen to miss out on training as soon as they get a better offer. It shows that he wants to stay at the club and Rafa Benitez should do everything he can to keep him as the squad would be weaker if he left.
