‘Genuinely abysmal’ – Man United fans rip into £25m player after shocking display vs Brighton
Man United supporters have fumed at one of their defenders after he struggled massively despite them winning against Brighton at Old Trafford.
Man United aimed to win three consecutive Premier League games for the first time under Ruben Amorim as they faced Brighton on home turf on Saturday (25 October).
They took the lead in the 23rd minute as Matheus Cunha curled home his first goal for the club since joining in the summer from Wolves, while Casemiro and Bryan Mbuemo added more to their tally to see them 3-0 up on the hour mark.
Brighton hit back as former Red Devil Danny Welbeck netted a fine free-kick and club-record signing Charalampos Kostoulas scored in added-time, but Mbeumo soon scored again and United beat the Seagulls 4-2 at Old Trafford.
United did look frail at the back in the second-half as they nearly let Brighton steal a point from the game, and one player in particular seriously struggled to make an impact after coming on from the bench.

Patrick Dorgu looked shaky and could have been sent off vs Brighton
Dorgu was involved in some controversy against Liverpool last week as Hackett told Football Insider that Michael Oliver should have booked him for a coming-together with Dominik Szoboszlai.
He has struggled to get into Amorim’s side for an extended period of time since joining from Lecce in January for £25million [BBC], and will continue to be benched based off his showing against Brighton.
He could have received his marching orders just two minutes after coming on in the 70th minute as he hauled down Yankuba Minteh while he was one-on-one with Senne Lammens.

Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett explained to Football Insider that Dorgu was rightly booked rather than sent off against Brighton as Minteh had lost control of the ball, but it was certainly a clumsy challenge regardless.
The resulting free-kick saw Welbeck pull one back for his side, while Dorgu’s introduction seemed to generally coincide with Brighton being on top and looking like scoring every time they attacked.
Man United fans slate and ridicule Dorgu after poor showing
Many United supporters took to X during and after the game to share their views on Dorgu’s performance, with an overwhelmingly negative tone to the posts.
One fan wrote: “Dorgu is genuinely abysmal. On the pitch for 20 seconds and already given away an attack with a bad pass, plus (he) should’ve been sent off.“
Another noticed that things had gone awry for United after his introduction, saying: “Everything that has happened since Dorgu came on has been a net negative.”
And more aimed negativity his way, as one wrote: “Dorgu is an insult to professional footballers,” while another said: “Dorgu has changed the game and not in a good way.”
