‘Gerrard must be tearing his hair out’ – Exclusive: Pundit rips into Rangers star man
Rangers could offload star man Alfredo Morelos this summer due to his ongoing “stupid” behaviour, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has ripped into the Colombian hitman and warned him his ill-discipline is hurting both himself and his teammates.
The 24-year-old was handed a three-game ban beginning with Wednesday night’s clash against St Johnstone after Rangers accepted a charge of violent conduct from the win over Hibernian.
Morelos appeared to stamp on Hibs defender Ryan Porteus before he proceeded to net the only goal of the game.
While seemingly seen by the officials at the time, the incident was reviewed by the compliance officer and the forthcoming charge was not appealed by the Gers.
Hutton has blasted Morelos for his behaviour and insisted it could push Rangers into getting rid of the player.
“Gerrard must be pulling his hair out,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“There’s only so many times you can defend him and they tried at the start but now, it’s just so frustrating to watch. He goes on and he gets his goal and he’s getting back to some sort of normality, if you want, in terms of performances he’s putting in and then he goes and does something so stupid.
“There’s no reason for him to do that. We understand he plays on the edge, we get that, you can’t really take that out of his game because he’d be a totally different player but when it comes to stamping on people or elbowing people, it’s way too far.
“He’s just hurting himself and his team. If he gets sent off there, the game could be totally different. So, he needs to realise this – yes he’s young but he needs to wise up very quickly or quite simply, he’ll get shifted on.
“The problem is the people that are looking at him will see this as very much a negative so it doesn’t help him either way.”
