Gerrard will be thrilled as Kamara drops Rangers transfer confession - pundit

Noel Whelan has claimed Glen Kamara’s comments over a potential transfer out of Rangers will be “music to the ears” of Steven Gerrard.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the midfielder had shown “great respect” to the club with his quotes.

Speaking to MTV Uutiset (September 7th), Kamara insisted he is fully focused on Rangers and that he did not pay attention to the transfer speculation over the summer.

Contract talks are also ongoing, with Gerrard confirming a “really strong, good offer” had been tabled.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Tuesday (September 7th) Arsenal made an approach to re-sign Kamara during the window.

Whelan lavished praise on the 25-year-old, suggesting he had done well to tune out news of interest from the Gunners.

“These are the quotes you want to hear from your player,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“He’s obviously got great respect for the club, the manager and coaching staff.

“That’s exactly what you want from a player, someone who says – ‘that’s great, but I’m fully focused at the club I’m at.’

“Speculation is speculation, you’ll always get that with good, standout players in a league or at a club.

“These quotes will be music to the ears of Gerrard. He’s not getting overawed or excited, he knows he has a job to do and he’s getting on with it.

“He’s shown great professionalism and great respect.

Kamara joined Rangers in 2019 from Dundee and has made 112 appearances for the Ibrox side.

His current deal at the club expires in the summer of 2023.
