McCoist: Celtic 21-year-old is 'best young player in the division'
Ally McCoist has raved about Celtic’s January signing Lewis Morgan who he believes is the ‘best young player in the division.’
The former Rangers goalscorer made his comments about the Hoops winger while co-hosting on the talkSPORT breakfast show (Friday, 6am) with fellow Scot Alan Brazil.
21-year-old Morgan signed from St Mirren at the start of the transfer window for £300,000 before being loaned back out to the Buddies until the end of the season as Brendan Rodgers looked as though he was going to do his business early.
The Scot has been on fire for the Scottish Championship side’s top team who are 11 points ahead of the chasing pack and look nailed on certainties for promotion to the SPL.
And Morgan has been integral to the Buddies success this season having scored 13 goals in 30 matches, it is clear to see why the McCoist has been so complimentary of the winger and described him as the ‘best young player in the division,’ live on air.
It nearly didn’t happen for the U21 international after he was released by Rangers at the age of 16, but that has clearly not perturbed him, as he has fought his way back up to the top of Scottish football.
