‘Get a grip’ – Aston Villa fans fume at what Jadon Sancho was spotted doing vs Basel
Jadon Sancho has not had the impact that many thought he would while on loan at Aston Villa so far.
Sancho spent last season out on loan at Chelsea, registering five goals and eight assists in 41 appearances as they won the Europa Conference League.
Ruben Amorim included Sancho in Man United’s ‘bomb squad’ over the summer, with no future for him at Old Trafford, but it took until deadline day for him to move to Aston Villa on loan.
He is yet to contribute to a goal in his 13 appearances for the club up to now, with no starts in the Premier League as yet as Unai Emery instead hands him regular chances in the Europa League.
Sancho was included in Villa’s starting line-up against Basel on Thursday (12 December), but again failed to impress and was spotted doing something that many of their fans did not like.

Sancho struggled against Basel then got angry after being taken off
Football Insider recently revealed that Villa are open to letting Sancho leave in January with his loan spell potentially set to be cut short, and this latest situation could accelerate such a move.
The 25-year-old did not make much of an impression against the Swiss champions, with just two touches in their box and only one of his four ground duels won, while he was dispossessed three times.
Emery saw fit to take him off in the 64th minute for Morgan Rogers, but Sancho did not take very kindly to the decision and shrugged his manager off when exiting the pitch before slamming his hand on the chairs in the dugout in frustration.
It is not the first time this season that an incident like this has taken place involving Sancho, after he was brought on and off in the same game against Man City in October and chose to ignore Emery as he trudged back to the dugout.
Villa fans slam Sancho for poor conduct when coming off – ‘He was out of order’
Villa have no room for players who don’t want to work for the team as they compete for silverware on numerous fronts this season.
Discipline and attitude as been a long-term concern around Sancho, and is one of the key reasons why he has been outcasted by United, with the Villans’ supporters unlikely to stand for such conduct.
Taking to X to vent their frustration at the incident on Thursday, one fan posted: “Just seen Sancho’s reaction to being subbed….I don’t mind players wanting to play and being unhappy being subbed off but he was out of order. Thanks and good bye come the end of the loan for me.”
Another said: “Sancho was a right weapon then when he was subbed off, not sure he’s done anywhere near enough to behave like that.”
While one added: “Sancho throwing a strop when he comes off. Send him back to Man United to rot in their reserves.”
