'Get him out of the club' - Exclusive: Whelan slaughters Everton player after transfer reveal
Noel Whelan has torn into Morgan Schneiderlin as the Everton midfielder closes in on a return to his native country with Nice.
The former Leeds United and Coventry striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 30-year-old has “gone backwards” since his move to Manchester United and suggested Carlo Ancelotti has “seen enough”.
French outlet Nice-Matin claim Schneiderlin is close to a return to Ligue 1 after Nice agreed a £1.8million fee, plus bonuses, for the holding midfielder with the Toffees.
Schneiderlin, who has one year left on his contract at Goodison Park has featured just 18 times this campaign and has ultimately failed to impress since signing from Manchester United in 2017.
Whelan admitted it has been “frustrating” to watch the France international in recent years as he struggles to replicate the form that earned him plaudits at Southampton.
“He had no impact at Manchester United either. He has gone backwards,” he told Football Insider.

“The Everton fans have been frustrated with him because they wanted to see what he produced at Southampton but no one has seen that again.
“Maybe the Manchester United move was too big or came too soon for him. He has not found his confidence at Everton.
“Not a player that would be on the team sheet.
“He’s been frustrating to watch and his performances have not been up to scratch at all. Get him out of the club.
“Ancelotti has made his mind up. He has seen enough of the players in the time he has been there.
“He has monitored them in training and in matches up until now to see if they have the credentials to be in an Ancelotti side – he hasn’t.”
