‘Get out of my club’ – Liverpool fans slaughter ‘disgraceful’ player who started in defeat to Nottingham Forest

Liverpool fans slaughtered Ibrahima Konate following their team’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The France international, 26, started the Merseysiders’ latest top-flight loss but suffered the indignity of being substituted once again as Arne Slot threw more attacking players on to the pitch after his team went 2-0 down.

But Slot’s tactics once again failed to work and a painful Liverpool could muster barely a shot worthy of the name in another limp display.

Goals from Murillo, Nicola Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White condemned Liverpool to their sixth league defeat of what is turning into a calamitous defence of their Premier League title.

Plenty of the blame online was directed at Konate, who has started all 12 of Liverpool’s league matches this season, but was once again far from his best and the corner he needlessly gave ahead in the first half directly led to the opener after 33 minutes.

Liverpool accelerate Marc Guehi chase

Forest went ahead when defender Murillo took advantage of the home side’s well-known set piece weakness to shot powerfully past fit-again Liverpool keeper Alisson to subdue an already anxious Anfield.

Igor Jesus had a second ruled out for handball, but Forest doubled their advantage 47 seconds after the break when former Liverpool defender Neco Williams set up Nicola Savona for a clean finish in front of The Kop.

Gibbs-White scored with 12 minutes left after Alisson saved from Omari Hutchinson to deliver a huge win for a Forest side entrenched in the relegation zone before kick-off.

Liverpool, who are chasing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi ahead of January, are now 11th in the Premier League and facing a major battle just to finish in the top four this season.

Konate has rejected three contract offers and that has not gone unnoticed by fans fuming at his latest performance.

One fan pointed out that Konate’s physique, which appears to be far less svelte than it once was, could be the reason for the downturn in his displays.
