Leeds United fans have been left raging after manager Paul Heckingbottom admitted that he needed to be on the same wavelength as director of football Victor Orta in order to enjoy success at the club.
Orta is perhaps the least popular figure at Elland Road right now after the summer overhaul he led last year left the squad in a much worse state than they were when he was hired by Andrea Radrizzani.
Leeds are plummeting down the Championship table and it seems near impossible that the Yorkshire giants will come anywhere near to the seventh-placed finish achieved by Garry Monk last term.
Many believe that Orta’s recruitment was down to the with big name players like Chris Wood, Charlie Taylor and Kyle Bartley replaced with loan signings, bargain buys or players who are untested in the Championship.
Heckingbottom now looks set to work alongside Orta for the first time in the summer and he admits that they have to work closely together in the future.
“Victor played a big part in me coming here. It has to be a close relationship, we have to be thinking on the same page,” he said, as quoted by West Yorkshire Sport’s official Twitter account on Wednesday night.
Leeds fans were less than pleased to see that the former Middlesbrough transfer chief was going to be involved in the transfers yet again once this season ends.
One angry supporter claimed that the pair are “clueless” while others seemed to give up all hope.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Neither are up to the job. Orta’s recruitment has been a total failure and we have went backwards with PH

If you ask most fans they don’t trust Orta and neither did the fans of his previous club Middlesborough
