‘Get rid’ – Tottenham fans slam ‘absolute liability’ after what he did vs Man United

Tottenham fans have blasted one of the players that was at fault for the goals they conceded in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Man United on home turf.

Bryan Mbeumo gave Man United the lead just after the half-hour mark with a well-placed header, but Tottenham pushed to get back into it after the break and drew level six minutes from time through Mathys Tel.

Richarlison thought he had won it with a glanced header from Wilson Odobert’s shot in the 91st minute, but Matthijs de Ligt saved the visitors with his own headed finish from a corner with seconds left on the clock as it finished 2-2 between Tottenham and Man United.

Tottenham fans ripped into Brennan Johnson for his poor showing, and another of their players suffered some backlash online for the way they let in the final goal in, in particular.

Guglielmo Vicario struggled to command his box against Man United

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario made a blunder against Brighton earlier in the season, and he has not quite won their fans over since his arrival in June 2023.

The 29-year-old did not play well against the Red Devils on Saturday (8 November) as he conceded twice from 1.22 expected goals faced, with the two goals coming from the visitors’ only shots on target of the 90 minutes.

He had a 66% pass accuracy and a 23% long ball accuracy as he struggled to find a man upfield, and only made one high claim from a lofted ball into the box.

Vicario was also the main man at fault for United’s late equaliser as he failed to come off his line and get rid of the ball before the big centre-back nodded home.

Vicario slammed by Spurs supporters for sub-par showing

Taking to X, one Tottenham fan wrote: “Vicario one of many that needs upgrading, great shot stopper but an absolute liability from set pieces.”

Another criticised the Italian’s role in De Ligt’s goal, saying: “Vicario was trolling for that goal and the header was moving at a snail’s pace no need for him to step back.”
