‘Get this thug out of my team’ – Chelsea fans rip into flop after ‘stupid’ display vs Barcelona

Chelsea fans were quick to tear into Liam Delap in their victory over Barcelona despite notching a goal off the bench.

Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League on 25 November as they took advantage of the visitors’ ridiculous high line.

Even without the injured Cole Palmer, the Blues looked extremely threatening and breezed to a comfortable victory against the 10-men of the Blaugrana.

Although a jubilant evening, supporters were unhappy with summer signing Delap prior to notching the third goal of the night.

Liam Delap’s goal not enough to redeem himself with the Chelsea faithful

The former Ipswich Town man came on in the 59th minute and looked rusty, only recently coming back from injury.

The 22-year-old did manage to score in the 73rd minute, courtesy of Enzo Fernandez putting the ball on the plate for him, yet fans were quick to note his slow start to his off-the-bench appearance.

In 31 minutes of action, Delap fouled twice and only won two of his six duels with his lethargy plain to see, not fully convincing the Blues faithful that he is ready to fight for a starting role.

Moreover, the Englishman was intent on unfairly bodying the Barcelona defenders, with some supporters noting his intent to hurt the opposition as one Chelsea fan said: “Liam Delap’s first action is to clatter a defender. Okay man, get this thug out of my team.”

Another supporter was also displeased with his performance prior to the goal, stating: “Liam Delap is a stupid player. Sell him. He adds nothing to the team”
