David Ginola revealed that Mauricio Pochettino wants a player just like him at Tottenham.
During Wednesday’s Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT,the 50-year-old shared that when he visited the Spurs boss at the training ground, Pochettino had opened up about the type of player he was after.
“I spoke with Pochettino the other week and he told me ‘I would like someone like you'”, said Ginola.
Pochettino described the player they’re missing to the 50-year-old as “someone who can take the ball from midfield and run with it and create spaces for himself or for others, and this is what he’s searching for right now.”
The 50-year-old added that the Argentinian manager admitted that although they have Harry Kane, “they need some other attitudes going forward upfront.”
Kane has scored 10 of Tottenham’s 22 Premier League goals this season, and his goals have helped Spurs sit fifth in the league with 24 points.
Tottenham are one point behind bitter rivals Arsenal, who have a game in hand, and are 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Spurs have suffered three disappointing league results in a row, losing to Arsenal 2-0, drawing 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion before most recently losing 2-1 to Leicester City on Tuesday night.
Kane is the only Tottenham player to have scored in these games, and in the league game he missed through injury against Manchester United, Spurs failed to score.
Tottenham will be aiming not to make it four league games without a win when they travel to face Watford on Saturday.
