Giorgos Giakoumakis and Celtic teammate ‘going to get signed up’ after Sky update – pundit
Kevin Campbell has backed Giorgos Giakoumakis and Liel Abada to put pen to paper on new long-term contracts at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker heaped praise on the two attackers who have “been excellent” this season.
According to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas (1 November), the Hoops are in talks with Giakoumakis and Abada over bumper new deals.
The club are said to be keen to reward the two players for their start to the 2022-23 campaign.
Giakoumakis, 27, has just over three-and-a-half years remaining on his agreement at Parkhead.
Abada, 21, is also under contract until the end of May 2026.
Both players arrived to the club in the 2021 summer transfer window.
When asked by Football Insider if both players would likely want to extend their already long-term deals at Celtic Park, Campbell said: “Listen, these guys have been excellent.
“They have been a key part of what has been a prolific attack this season.
“They are going to get signed up. You cannot afford to let these guys run down their contracts or leave.
“I’m sure they will put pen to paper on new contracts as well, they look like they’re enjoying their football at the moment.”

Giakoumakis has contributed 25 goals and one assist in 46 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops.
Abada has 23 goals and 13 assists to his name in 72 games.
