Glasgow pundit issues ‘surprise’ Celtic prediction after development ‘I’ve never seen’

Frank McAvennie “wouldn’t be surprised” if Celtic beat Bodo/Glimt 3-0 tonight.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also admitted he wouldn’t be upset if his former side were knocked out of the Europa Conference League.

Celtic face Bodo/Glimt tonight as they look to rectify last week’s 3-1 loss at Parkhead.

With the away goals rule scrapped this season, a 3-0 win would see the Hoops safely into the next round.

McAvennie can see that happening if Celtic fix the issues that blighted them in last week’s first leg.

“This is no mug team, they put six past Roma,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know it wasn’t Roma’s best side but they also drew with them in the reverse fixture.

“I think they realised we wouldn’t change our style and worked out how to get in behind our fullbacks.

“They did that all night and we didn’t change it. Postecolgou has to take that on board and work out how to stop that otherwise we are in deep trouble.

“I’ve never seen that, Ange getting almost outmaneuvered like that.

“All week I have been thinking Celtic have a mountain to climb but then you also think you wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic win 3-0.

“That’s the way Celtic are playing at the moment. We could go there and batter them.

“He’s had a week to look at things and to work out a way around them.

“We will go there and give it our best but if we go out I won’t be too bothered.

“This season is about winning the league and this is a brand new competition.”
