Glasgow pundit tips Patterson to quit Rangers and this is when he will join Everton

Frank McAvennie claims Nathan Patterson will leave Rangers in January amid renewed interest from Everton.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider,
wants the defender to play more first-team football.

On Tuesday (21 December) The Guardian reported Everton will make a third attempt to sign Patterson, 20, in January.

The right-back has only made 11 appearances this season as he sits firmly behind club captain James Tavernier in the pecking order at Ibrox.

Patterson broke into the first-team picture last season but has failed to hold down a starting spot.

After impressing in November’s international break for Scotland, Glasgow-based McAvennie wants Patterson to leave Ibrox in January.

“The boy is a brilliant talent,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s still so raw and he’s not getting that game time at Rangers.

“I can see him going to Everton. It would be great for him to go down there.

“It will take a while for him to get ready for the Premier League, you have to bulk up.

“If he was to go, and I think he should, that’s a good move for him. He’s doing so well for Scotland.

“I want him playing and he can’t a look-in at Rangers. I’ve been saying this for ages.

“Tavernier is going nowhere so there is no way for Patterson to play. I think he will try to force a move in January.”

Everton

The 33-year-old has made 13 league appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.
