Glen Kamara: Brighton tipped to submit Rangers star bid amid £33m claim - pundit

Noel Whelan has tipped Brighton to make a move for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara if Yves Bissouma is sold this summer.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Gers’ 26-year-old could be an affordable replacement for the Seagulls’ 25-year-old.

An Ibrox source told Football Insider on Thursday (12 May) that Rangers have an agreement with Kamara where he will be allowed to leave for a certain price this summer.

Meanwhile, a recruitment source told this site last month (7 April) that Aston Villa have registered their interest in signing Bissouma from Brighton.

The Mali star is heading into the final year of his contract, meaning the Seagulls may have to cash in this summer.

As such, Whelan suggested they could launch a move for Kamara to fill the void.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Looking at Bissouma, who might go to Aston Villa, Kamara would fit right in at a Brighton. That may be the range of price that they’d be looking to buy as well.

“As a replacement, it’s the right amount of money they would like to spend. They would get a lot more for Bissouma. That would give them more money to build.

“Bissouma is not going to go cheap. You’re looking around the £30million mark, if not a little bit more, maybe £32-33million. That would definitely raise the capital.

“It looks like to me a good replacement in Kamara, a similar kind of player. Money then to go and get another striker on board. Maybe another two players if they do good business.”

Kamara’s contract at Rangers runs until the summer of 2025.

He joined the Light Blues for just £50,000 from Dundee.
