Glen Kamara finalising Leeds move after talks breakthrough – sources
Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara is in advanced talks to join Rennes for around £10million, sources have told Football Insider.
The 28-year-old is set to leave Leeds United after just one season at Elland Road following his move from Scottish side Rangers for £5 million in August 2023.
The deal has progressed in the last 24 hours after a breakthrough in talks between Leeds and Rennes.
The west Yorkshire club are in line to land a £5m profit should the central midfielder’s move to France be finalised.
Kamara is keen on making the move after Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Glen Kamara close to agreeing Leeds United move
Following the £40 million sale of home-grown star Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur and Bulgarian midfielder Ilia Gruev’s uncertain future, Kamara’s exit signals the loss of another important player.
Kamara made 40 Championship appearances for Leeds United last season, scoring five goals and getting three assists from a largely defensive role.
The Finland international started his career at Arsenal but rose to prominence after his time at Rangers, where he made 193 appearances, scoring nine goals, most notably in their 2021/22 Europa League semi-final clash against RB Leipzig.
Kamara made his debut for Leeds in the Championship on 2 September 2023, as a late substitute in a 0–0 home draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

On 18 February 2024, after his first 25 matches in the league, Kamara had a successful passing rate of 93.5 per cent.
Rennes finished 10th in Ligue 1 last season, which followed their qualification for the Europa League in 2022/23.
In other news, Leeds have submitted two bids for Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle.
