Caixinha favourite returns, Jan signing omitted: Rangers expected XI v St Johnstone
Rangers manager Graeme Murty is expected to make one change to the side which beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox on Saturday when they take on St Johnstone on Tuesday night.
Veteran defender Bruno Alves is expected to come into the side for January signing Russell Martin as he continues his return from the calf injury which has kept him out of action since December’s 0-0 Old Firm draw with Celtic.
Wes Foderingham is expected to keep his place between the sticks with James Tavernier, David Bates, Declan John and Alves making up the Gers’ back four.
Alves was a clear favourite of former manager Pedro Caixinha, who signed the Portugal intentional in the summer.
With the Gers facing a huge set of games over the next few weeks, Murty will want as many of his first-team squad available and match-ready as he can.
After running the show against Hearts, Sean Goss and Greg Docherty are expected to be paired in central midfield again and will be expected to control the game against Tommy Wright’s side in a similar manner to the win over Hearts.
The form of the Gers’ attack means Daniel Candeias, Josh Windass, Jamie Murphy and Alfredo Morelos should be sure-fire picks at McDiarmid Park as the Light Blues look to keep the pressure on league leaders Celtic.
With all four in sparkling form, the Saints will face a torrid time keeping them quiet as they look to fire the Gers to an unlikely title success.
